The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and mountain biking and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

The Dr. John Champlin Glacier Park consists of two parcels totaling 134 acres and was purchased in August 2004. It is entirely recessional moraine kettle and kame topography including ponds, sand barrens and ridges overlooking Winnapaug Pond, Block Island Sound, Block Island and Long Island.
